I'm a little worried about this remake. I just do not think it can be done 100 percent correct. The Bollywood 2009 super hit 3 Idiots starring Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, R. Madhavan, and Sharman Joshi hit the nail on the head. Aamir Khan was superb. I don't think anyone else could have pulled off the role of Rancho so easily.
There is just something different about Hindi films and Tamil films. The culture, language, attitudes, and general acting is just something different. The story can be translated into a favorable film for Tamil audiences but it will lose that Je Ne Sais Quoi of Hindi cinemas. For example, Pokiri (Telugu, 2006) did not make an awesome remake as Wanted in Hindi. It lost that South Indian Je Ne Sais Quoi. Don't get me wrong, Wanted was a good film but it just wasn't the same feel. Still, I'm terribly excited to watch and I'm hoping for the best.
Nanban (Tamil: நண்பன்; English: Friend) is an upcoming Tamil comedy film directed by S. Shankar. The film features an ensemble cast that includes Vijay, Jeeva, Srikanth, Ileana D'Cruz and Sathyaraj. The soundtrack and background score is by Harris Jayaraj, working with Shankar for the second time after Anniyan (2005). Filming began in March 2011 following a lengthy delay in casting.
It is a remake of the 2009 Bollywood blockbuster film 3 Idiots, directed by Rajkumar Hirani, which was adapted from the novel Five Point Someone by Chetan Bhagat.
